Our Heritage

Leadbetter & Murphy was founded shortly after World War II by George Leadbetter and Michael Murphy. For many years the company was known as ‘The Catholic Funeral Directors’ mainly due to the large Catholic population of the area, but also because both George and Michael were active members of their local catholic church. Both men were popular within the community and many of their friends entrusted their family funerals to them. Even today, many of our customers come to us because their families ‘knew’ George Leadbetter and Michael Murphy.

It’s a legacy of which we’re very proud.

Our premises in Wavertree are furnished to meet the high standards you’d expect. In addition, we purchase state-of-the-art new limousines and continually update and maintain our fleet – so you can be reassured by the quality of the vehicles that we’ll use during the service for your loved one.
