What is Direct Cremation?
Direct Cremation is a cheaper option for families who need to keep costs as low as possible and for those who do not require a proper funeral service. The cremation occurs privately, with nobody there.
What’s included?
Direct Cremation at £1,345 includes the following:
- Professional collection of your loved one from the hospital or mortuary during standard hours
- Respectful preparation and placing in a simple wooden coffin
- Private transportation of your loved one to the crematorium using our own ambulance
- Crematorium fee
Please note we choose the day and time of the cremation with no family attendance possible. We will inform you of the cremation date, though the specific time and location details remain undisclosed. Our team will accompany the deceased to the crematorium chapel, after which crematorium staff manage the proceedings.
Usually the crematorium scatters the ashes on their own grounds in your absence. However, if you wish, we can collect the ashes for you to then collect from us.
Other Charges:
- Our trained professionals will carefully collect your loved one in a private ambulance from any other location, including private residences, nursing homes, or hospices. Available 24/7. £250
- We offer careful handling of individuals requiring larger coffins, ensuring safe and dignified transfer with additional staffing and more time at the crematorium. This adds a little more cost. £300
- Qualified mortuary technicians will remove pacemakers or other implants prior to cremation. £100
- Standard plain plastic or cardboard containers for ashes are included, but we also offer an upgrade of an elegant oak casket with personalised engraved nameplate. £95
- For collection journeys exceeding 20 miles in a round trip, an additional mileage fee applies. £1.75 per mile
How to pay:
- We accept multiple payment methods, including credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and cash. If you need to share the cost, we also allow contributions from multiple family members.
- Full payment is required within two working days of finalising arrangements.
- Crematorium booking and scheduling will be confirmed only after completing all necessary paperwork and we have received payment.
Further Information:
- Please inform us if you feel Direct Cremation is right for you at the initial consultation to prevent unnecessary expense for you.
- If you are unable or you’d simply prefer not to meet us or a Funeral Director in person, you can correspond with us via telephone and email. Where paperwork requires a signature, this can be managed by post.
- We provide respectful and dignified treatment of the deceased, but please note, you will not be able to view your loved one before the cremation and your attendance at the crematorium is not possible.
